GDC Khour commemorates Kargil Vijay Diwas with zeal and enthusiasm

KHOUR, July 26: On 26th of July 2024, on the eve of Kargil Vijay Diwas, a solemn ceremony was organised by NCC cadets of GDC Khour representing 2 J&K Boys Bn at Anil Manhas memorial at Chak Malal under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) T.K. Sharma Principal of the College .The Kargil Vijay Diwas, a day that hold immense significance in the history of our nation named after the successful operation Vijay is celebrated on 26 July every year. The Kargil war was a challenging battle fought in one of the most difficult terrain and under harsh conditions. Our soldiers with unparalleled bravery and strong determination fought valiantly making ultimate sacrifice to ensure that our tricolour flew high over the peaks of Kargil. This day is celebrated to honour the Indian armed forces victory in the kargil war of 1999, where they successfully reclaimed the peaks infiltrated by enemy forces. The ceremony commenced with a wreath laying ceremony to honour the supreme sacrifice made by martyrs. This was followed by Shrandanjli, a heartfelt tribute to the fallen heroes to express gratitude and respect for their courage and dedication who fought with unwavering courage to protect our Nation. On this occasion Lt. Shivani Sharma, ANO GDC Khour, delivered a poignant speech highlighting the significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas, emphasizing the bravery and sacrifice of our soldiers in defending our nation's sovereignty. She also highlighted the importance of unity and patriotism. The NCC cadets also took pledge to follow in the footsteps of the brave soldiers who fought for the nation. The event concluded with National Anthem. The whole event was organised by Lt. Shivani Sharma in collaboration with Havaldar Sanjay Kumar.
