JAMMU, July 26: The Career Development Center (CDC), Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu, under the aegis of ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Hyderabad, organized a four-day workshop on Soft Skill Development for students. The workshop culminated in a valedictory function graced by Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, as the chief guest.
In his address, Prof. Tripathi underscored the significance of such workshops in enhancing students' soft skills, crucial for excelling in both social and professional spheres. He highlighted the current era's demand for strong communication skills and emphasized the importance of time management in achieving futuristic goals. "Time and tide wait for none, and everyone must perform and manage their activities efficiently within the 24 hours of a day," Prof.Tripathi remarked. He encouraged students to develop effective speaking and listening skills through regular participation in group discussions, debates, and brainstorming sessions. Additionally, he stressed the need for students to cultivate leadership, teamwork, and decision-making skills, which are highly valued by employers.
The workshop saw the enthusiastic participation of forty students from the various faculties of the university. Over the course of four days, experts Prashant Joshi and Anil Joshi from Mindbloom Technologies, Nagpur, delivered 16 comprehensive lectures on self-organizational skills, career-launching skills, career enhancement skills, and twenty-first-century skills. Topics covered included communication, critical thinking, self-management, time management, goal setting, and resume writing, ensuring students are well-prepared for job applications and interviews. The workshop also emphasized teamwork, empathy, and public speaking, aiming to develop well-rounded individuals ready for the professional world.
Earlier, Dr. Sanjay Guleria, HR Executive Officer, Career Development Center, SKUAST-Jammu, and Organizing Secretary of the workshop, welcomed the dignitaries and presented the workshop report.
