Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, July 28: In a tribute to the heroes of the Kargil War and a gesture of remembrance on Kargil Vijay Diwas, a large group of 80 NCC cadets of Government College for Women, Udhampur, along with the ANO's, Lt (Dr) Kamal Deep Kaur and Prof. Rukhsana Kousar, visited the Dhruva War Memorial and Param Yodha Sthal at the Headquarters Northern Command. This significant visit, organized in collaboration with the 5171 ASC Battalion, was led by Col Dhiraj Kumar, CO 5171 ASC Bn.
On this solemn occasion, Col Dhiraj Kumar and Lt Col Yatinder Kumar provided a detailed briefing to the cadets about the profound significance of these sites. The Dhruva War Memorial stands as a testament to the courage and sacrifice of soldiers who laid down their lives in defense of the nation. The Param Yodha Sthal honors the gallant warriors awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military decoration.
The visit was especially poignant as it coincided with Kargil Vijay Diwas, a day commemorating India's victory in the Kargil War and honoring the valor of the soldiers. The cadets were deeply moved by the stories of bravery and sacrifice, reinforcing their resolve to uphold the values of courage, dedication, and service to the nation.
This educational visit served as more than just a history lesson; it was a powerful reminder of the bravery and selflessness that characterize the Indian Armed Forces. The initiative underscores the importance of such visits in fostering a deeper understanding and respect for the nation's military heritage among the youth. Such initiatives play a crucial role in shaping future leaders who are aware of the proud army legacy and responsibilities of serving the nation.
