Early Times Report JAMMU, July 28: Sadguru Shri Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj of Sahib Bandagi delivered a profound discourse to a captivated congregation at Mishriwala, Jammu. His teachings focused on the nature of the soul, karma, and the mind, offering a deep spiritual insight into the human condition. Sadguru Shri Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj emphasized that both sin and virtue act as fetters-one made of iron and the other of gold-but both equally bind the soul. He elaborated that the soul itself is beyond karma, and it is the power within that performs actions and subsequently deals with the consequences, whether pleasure or pain. Explaining further, he said that all actions (karmas) originate in the mind. When a desire or resolution arises, such as the wish to travel to Mumbai, it is the mind that formulates this thought, while the soul merely provides the energy. The mind evaluates the feasibility, like considering if there are sufficient funds for the journey, while the soul remains detached, merely energizing the mind's resolutions. Sadguru Ji stressed that the soul should not be entangled with the mind's decisions and actions. Instead, one should maintain a separation, understanding that the energy comes from the soul, but the decisions and actions are directed by the mind. He poetically referred to the soul as a swan, urging it to forsake the hope of action and embrace Surati Yoga, the yoga of divine awareness, over Karma Yoga or Gyan Yoga. He further clarified that the physical body, composed of the five elements, does not belong to the soul. The soul is pure, being a part of God, and cannot commit sinful acts. It is the mind, influenced by feelings of tamas (ignorance and darkness) and rajas (passion and activity), that leads one to sinful actions or the pursuit of bodily pleasures. These tamasic and rajasic tendencies are the real culprits behind sinful behaviors, not the soul. Shri Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj concluded by addressing the internal struggles faced by individuals, attributing them to demonic forces in the form of lust, anger, greed, attachment, and ego. These forces drive individuals towards sin, resulting in pain for the soul. However, the soul itself remains untouched by these actions, retaining its purity as a divine entity.
