JKSPYM hosts successful CBS cum awareness camps | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 29: The Jammu and Kashmir Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses (JKSPYM), in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir AIDS Control Society (JKACS), Department of Health and Medical Education, organized a series of CBS cum Awareness Camps across various villages in Jammu. The camps, part of a Targeted Intervention project for Injecting Drug Users (PWIDs), were held in Village Devigarh (Block Arnia), Village Chatha Farm (Block Satwari), and Village Narania (Kalu Chak). Community Involvement: The camps were organized with the active participation and support of the respected Sarpanchs of the respective villages. Awareness Sessions: Attendees were educated on critical health issues including HIV/AIDS, STIs, drug abuse, and its associated harms. Information on Hepatitis and its consequences was also provided. Health Screenings: As part of the awareness initiative, HIV and Syphilis tests were conducted to emphasize the importance of regular health check-ups. Harm Reduction Strategies: The participants were informed about Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) and other harm reduction methods, promoting safer practices among the community. Stakeholder Participation: The camps saw active involvement from various stakeholders, contributing to the success of the initiative. The events aimed to reduce the health burden in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir by promoting safe sexual behaviors and spreading awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and infectious diseases.
