Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 7: The Department of English, under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Meeru Abrol, Principal of the college, successfully organized an essay writing competition focusing on "The Saga of Unsung Heroes of the Indian Freedom Movement." This event aimed to illuminate the extraordinary yet often overlooked individuals who significantly contributed to India's independence. Open to all students of the college, the competition provided a platform for participants to showcase their research, writing, and storytelling abilities. Students were encouraged to delve into the lives and contributions of freedom fighters who have not received widespread recognition but have significantly impacted India's journey to independence. The essays were expected to be original, well-researched, and focused on lesser-known individuals who made impactful contributions to India's history, freedom struggle, social reforms, or cultural heritage. Participants chose to write about freedom fighters such as Lakshmi Sahgal, Ram Prasad Bismil, Savitribai Phule, Kartar Singh Sarabha, Begum Hazrat Mahal, Birsa Munda, Kamla Devi, Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay, and Tirupur Kumaran. This event inspired students to delve into the rich tapestry of India's history and highlight the stories of lesser-known figures who have made significant contributions to the nation. Principal Dr. Meeru Abrol remarked that the event was organized to encourage all students to participate in this enriching experience, which not only celebrates India's unsung heroes but also hones the academic and creative skills of the participants. She emphasized the importance of such literary endeavors in honoring the unsung heroes who played pivotal roles in India's fight for freedom. A panel of esteemed judges from the Faculty of Commerce evaluated the essays, with other faculty members gracing the occasion. The event was meticulously organized by Dr. Pavanjeet Bali and Prof. Anjun Bala.
