SLCA hosts drug abuse awareness program for students in Jammu | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 7: The Jammu and Kashmir State Level Coordinating Agency (SLCA J&K) hosted a one-day awareness program on "Drug Abuse and Preventive Measures" for the students of Bhagwati Haqiqat Memorial Public High School in Lower Barnai, Jammu. This initiative, part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, was conducted in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MOSJE), Government of India. The program saw active participation from around 69 students and teachers. The event commenced with an introduction to SLCA and NMBA by Ms. Kimi Padhiar from SLCA, followed by a welcome address by the school's Principal, Mrs. Usha Jamwal. She lauded the SLCA team for their efforts in raising awareness among young students about the dangers of drug abuse. The event was structured into three informative sessions. Expert resource persons provided education on psychoactive substances, various categories of drugs, and their short-term and long-term effects on the body. To engage the students, the program included interactive activities and sessions, which were met with enthusiastic participation. Additionally, a slogan and painting competition on "Drug Abuse Prevention" was organized, with winners being felicitated at the conclusion of the program. Refreshments were distributed to all participants. The awareness program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Deepak Bhati from SLCA, marking the end of a successful and impactful event dedicated to educating young minds about the importance of drug abuse prevention. |
