Restore statehood in J&K before elections: Rissam | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 10: Chairman J&K Congress Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan (RGPRS) Sandeep Singh Rissam continuing the ongoing outreach program of RGPRS conducted a meeting in Mashian Panchayat in RS pura. Sandeep interacted with the Former Sarpanch Rajpal and local people of the panchayat and listened to their grievances and discussed the pending issues of development in the area. During the interaction the local people informed the congress leader about the lack of basic facilities like road, electricity etc which is causing a lot of hardships for the residents of the area. The residents also said that in the absence of an elected state government and panchayat representatives the problems of the people are not being heard by the administration. Sandeep while speaking in the meeting said that BJP led UT administration has failed on all fronts to resolve the problems being faced by the people of J&K and statehood should be restored at the earliest to empower the elected representatives of the people as the BJP led government by passing different laws and rules has almost made the elected representatives as powerless and all powers have been vested to the center appointed LG. He said that unemployment in J&K is rising day by day and due to frustration and problems the youth is getting trapped into drug menace but the government has also failed to control this problem. Rissam said that statehood should be restored before the conduct of assembly elections as it is a important step to empower people . Sandeep said that members of RGPRS will continue with this outreach program to meet and listen to the problems of the people and will continue to work for betterment and empowerment of the people.
