| KVK Reasi launches plantation drive | | |  Early Times Report
REASI, Aug 10: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) in collaboration with Go Green Katra launched the plantation drive here at KVK, Reasi campus during which various fruits/agroforestry/medicinal plants will be planted. The drive was organised under the dynamic leadership of Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor and able guidance of Prof. Amrish Vaid,Director Extension of SKUAST-J.The campaign was co-ordinated by the Project Director, Dheeraj Thapa of Wildlife Conservation. Dr. Banarsi Lal,Chief Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi, SKUAST-J warmly welcomed the participants. He briefed the objectives of the programme and highlighted the importance of agroforestry for the protection of environment. He stressed on the plantation of more and more saplings for the well-being of the human beings and other living organisms. He guided the participants about the various conservative practices to safeguard the environment. He also discussed on the various kinds of pollutions and their ill effects and urged participants to plant more and more plants so as to mitigate such problems.He also spoke on soil and water conservation practices. On this occasion a plantation drive was also undertaken with the plantation of about 2000 different kinds of plants in the campus. Kamal Kishore from Go Green Katra thanked KVK,Reasi for providing the support and guidance during the campaign. |
