Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 16: The 78th Independence Day of India was celebrated with great zeal and fervor with a series of activities that highlighted the twin themes of patriotism and environmental stewardship by the trainees, staff, and faculty members of Soil Conservation Training School, Miran Sahib.
The event commenced with a special plantation drive, symbolically themed "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" and "Ek Ped Shyidon Ke Kaam." These themes emphasized honoring mothers and martyrs through the act of planting trees, reflecting a deep respect for those who nurture and protect the nation. The trainees planted a wide variety of plants, including fruit-bearing trees, ornamental species, and shade-providing plants, across the campus. This initiative underscored the institute's commitment to promoting a greener and healthier environment.
The Principal of SCTS, in a symbolic gesture, planted a summer apple tree on the campus, setting an example for the trainees and reinforcing the importance of environmental conservation. The Principal's participation in the plantation drive highlighted the institute's dedication to sustainable practices and environmental awareness.
Following the plantation drive, a 'Tiranga Rally' was organized, with the trainees carrying the tricolor flag through the campus. The rally, which was held in the presence of the PT Instructor, showcased the trainees' unity, discipline, and love for the nation. The atmosphere was charged with patriotic fervor as the rally participants chanted slogans and sang patriotic songs.
The Independence Day celebrations continued with the hoisting of the national flag by the Principal of SCTS. The flag-hoisting ceremony, organized by the trainees under the guidance of the PT Instructor, was a solemn and proud moment for everyone present. The national anthem was sung with great enthusiasm, filling the air with a sense of pride and reverence for the country.
The highlight of the day was the vibrant cultural program organized by the trainees. The program featured an array of multilingual patriotic songs, poems, and performances that celebrated India's rich cultural diversity. The trainees showcased their talents through various performances, each infused with deep patriotic sentiment.
Dr. Rakesh Verma, Range Officer/Instructor, delivered a moving poem dedicated to the "lesser-known khakis," paying tribute to the unsung heroes of the nation who work tirelessly behind the scenes. His poem was a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by countless individuals for the country's freedom and security.
Rajesh Salalia, another key contributor to the event, shared his thoughts on the inspiration behind the cultural presentations. He emphasized the importance of remembering and honoring the nation's heroes through such artistic expressions. The cultural program was a true reflection of the trainees' creativity, passion, and deep love for their country.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dewan Singh. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Principal, faculty, trainees, and all participants for their active involvement and support in making the Independence Day celebrations a grand success. He also thanked the PT Instructor for their guidance and coordination in organizing the day's events.
The Independence Day celebrations at SCTS, Miran Sahib, were not just a commemoration of India's freedom but also a reaffirmation of the institute's commitment to environmental conservation and national pride.
