LPU celebrated Independence Day with patriotism, unity | | | Agencies JALANDHAR, Aug 16: LPU campus, decorated with tri-colours, celebrated 78th Independence Day with hues of patriotism and unity. Dressed in the tricolour, the entire LPU community came together for celebration. The Chief Guest, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU, Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, hoisted the flag. As a presiding officer, LPU Pro-Chancellor Colonel Rashmi Mittal was also present there. Many talented LPU students representing diverse achievements like NCC, NSS, innovation, research, sports, and cultural activities participated in the march-past and paid tribute to the flag and its values. Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, while addressing the staff and students, paid tribute to the soldiers who were martyred to give freedom to the country. Dr. Mittal emphasised the transformative vision of the nation: we are witnessing the beginning of a "Shreshtha Bharat"-a new India that is strong, resilient, and invincible. Dr. Mittal highlighted India's remarkable achievements in various fields, including unicorn startups, digitisation, sports, education, science, and entertainment, and lauded the extraordinary achievements of Olympic athletes. LPU supports students in developing their careers in addition to their education. LPU trained students in sports education so that they could make us proud by showcasing the country at the global level. Dr. Mittal shared the pride of 24 LPU students, who represented 21% of the Indian contingent at the Paris Olympics in 2024. Dr. Mittal also said that, as Indians, we should be proud of our achievements, but we should also understand that with great power comes enormous responsibility. He inspired faculty and students at LPU to make similar contributions in the future. During the cultural program, the captivating performance of the Swaraag Band enthralled the LPU community with its melodious patriotic renditions. The event was further enriched with patriotic performances, including mime acts, skits, melodious presentations, and poetry recitations. Slogans of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai," "Vande Mataram," "Jai Hind," etc. echoed across the campus, filling the hearts of everyone present with the spirit of patriotism. |
