Early Times Report POUNI, Aug 23: To mark the occasion of National Space Day and celebrate the success of India's Chandrayaan-3 mission, the Symposium Committee of Government Degree College (GDC) Pouni organized a Symposium and Poster-making event. The program, which commenced at 11 a.m., aligned with the 2024 theme for National Space Day: "Touching Lives while Touching the Moon: India's Space Saga." The Symposium, which featured topics like "India's Journey to the Moon" and "Advancements in Space Exploration," allowed participants to delve into India's impressive strides in space research. The Poster-making competition was centered around the theme "Space Science and Everyday Life," emphasizing the relevance of space exploration in our daily lives. Dr. U S Liza, Head of the English Department, welcomed the Principal, faculty members, and students. The Symposium event was hosted by Harleen Kour, a student of the 3rd Semester. Notable speakers from the 5th Semester included Kiran Sharma, Ishika Khajuria, Manveen Kour, and Mukhtar Ahmed, who were recognized as the best speakers of the day. The Poster-making event also saw remarkable creativity from students. Standout participants included Palvi Sharma, Harleen Kour, Preeti Kour, Indu Sharma, and Janam from the 3rd Semester, as well as Akashdeep and Nancy Sharma from the 5th Semester. In his closing address, the esteemed Principal, Udhay Bhanu, highlighted the significant impact of space exploration on daily life, noting advancements in global communication, navigation, and weather forecasting as prime examples. He extended heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to Dr. Prem Singh, Prof. Bishan Das, Prof. Beant Singh, Mr. Tanpreet Singh, Prof. Mohit Anand, and all the participants for their contributions to the event.
