Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 23: Dr. Devansh Yadav, the Commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), conducted a comprehensive tour of several wards in Jammu South today. The visit focused on reviewing ongoing health and sanitation activities led by the JMC and addressing public complaints lodged on the JMC online portal. Dr. Yadav visited key areas including Transport Nagar (Ward No. 49), Chhani Himmat (Ward No. 50), and Trikuta Nagar (Wards No. 53 & 54). During the tour, local residents had the opportunity to express their concerns and provide suggestions regarding community development. The Commissioner emphasized the importance of this direct engagement, reaffirming JMC's commitment to improving the region's infrastructure and implementing the feedback received during the visit. Highlighting the vital role of JMC in serving the citizens, Dr. Yadav stated that the corporation is dedicated to ensuring that all necessary facilities are provided efficiently and effectively. He appealed to the public to segregate waste at their households and to make use of the dedicated vehicles provided by JMC for proper waste disposal. He also urged residents to refrain from dumping waste, including polythene, in the lanes, to prevent blockages, drain choking, and traffic disruptions. In Transport Nagar, the Commissioner inspected a nallah where the protective wall had been eroded. To prevent illegal dumping of vehicles, construction materials, and waste, he ordered the installation of CCTV cameras. These measures will enable the identification of offenders through their license plates, leading to the imposition of fines. During the inspection of Ward No. 49 in Chhani Rama, behind AM Hyundai, Dr. Yadav called for the demarcation of land to identify encroachments and instructed relevant authorities to take immediate remedial actions to prevent overflow. In Ward No. 50, Chhani Himmat, the Commissioner directed the cleaning of lanes and the removal of debris from drains to ensure public convenience. Notices were also ordered for issuance, and unauthorized enclosures were marked for removal. In Ward No. 54, Dr. Yadav ordered the temporary restoration of the underpass and the protection wall of the nallah, prioritizing public safety. He also directed prompt action to address the issue of water overflow caused by blocked hume pipes on the main road, ensuring a swift resolution to prevent further disruptions. A delegation from the Mohalla Welfare Society, Trikuta Nagar, met with the Commissioner to raise their grievances. In response, Dr. Yadav issued directives for the immediate restoration of the underpass and the protection wall of the nallah in Ward No. 54, emphasizing the importance of public safety and convenience. He instructed the relevant authorities to address the water overflow issue promptly. Dr. Yadav was accompanied by Joint Commissioner of Health and Sanitation Abdul Sattar, Deputy Commissioner (South) Sh. Lal Chand, Joint Commissioner (W) Sh. Firdous Ahmed Qazi, Health Officer Dr. Vinod Sharma, Executive Engineers from various JMC wings, and other senior officers during the tour. |
