JKEDI conducts capacity building programs | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 31: Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) organized capacity building programs for faculty members and startups of SKUAST-K, SKIIE Incubation Centre at SKUAST (K), and a sensitization and awareness workshop for the government officials at the District Employment and Counseling Centre (DECC), Udhampur. The event was aimed at familiarizing the participants with the recently launched JK Startup Policy 2024-27 and exploring ways to create a startup ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir. The program saw participation from faculty members, incubation staff and innovative start-ups registered with SKUAST (K). Valuable insights on the JK Startup Policy, its benefits, and the support system available for entrepreneurs in the region were shared with the participants. During the program, Dr Naveed Hamid, Chief Executive Officer of SKUAST (K) Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship centre (SKIIE) and participants engaged in interactive sessions and discussions, focused on the essential elements of a startup ecosystem. The topics covered idea generation, innovation, incubation, funding, and scaling up. The capacity building program was coordinated by Centre for Incubation Innovation and Business Modelling (CIIBM) a program vertical of JKEDI. At Udhampur, a program of sensitization and awareness workshops with officials from various government departments at the District Employment and Counseling Centre (DECC) Udhampur was held to highlight the salient features of JK Startup Policy 2024-27. The program saw participation from the officials of various departments, including the Principal Government Degree College Basantgarh, Deputy Director, District Employment and Career Counseling Centre (DECC) Udhampur, District Nodal Officer National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), faculty members of higher education department, officials from Handicrafts & Handloom Department, Animal Husbandry Department, Fisheries Department, Cooperative Department and Officials from Govt Polytechnic College, Udhampur. During the program, the challenges faced by the Fisheries Department in marketing fisheries products in District Udhampur, the Horticulture Department in promoting HADP programs in various areas, and the marketing of Kalari as one district, one product across India via cold chain stores as frozen foods were discussed along with innovative solutions to these department specific issues through starts ups. The goal of the sensitization program was to improve government officials' understanding, skills, and capabilities of the startup ecosystem in district Udhampur with a focus on spreading information about the startup policy. |
