Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 6: In view of the Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir assembly elections, continuous action is being taken in Northern Railway under the supervision of Inspector General, Railway Protection Force as per the instructions of Director General, Railway Protection Force to prevent the transportation of illegal gold, silver , liquor, etc. banned goods and cash through rail medium. In this sequence, on 05.09.2024, an unprecedented seizure of illegal material and cash worth Rs 5,74,61,114/- was made by conducting intensive search operations at New Delhi, Ambala and Bathinda stations of Northern Railway . On 05.09.24, during checking of train no. 12926 Paschim Express by Mr. Javed Khan, Inspector in charge, RPF Ambala Cantt and his team, 02.00 kg gold jewellery and other artificial jewellery worth Rs. 1,51,60,000 / - and cash worth Rs. 5,00,000 /- were recovered from two trolley bags. Further action in respect of the recovered jewellery and cash is being taken by the Income Tax Department and Election Committee, Ambala. Apart from this, during checking of general coach of train no. 12455 Bikaner Express by Railway Protection Force, Bathinda, 12 laptops and other electrical goods worth Rs. 16,01,499 /- were recovered from six persons. Sales Tax and Income Tax Department have been informed in this regard and a case has been registered against the said six persons under Railway Act. On 05.09.2024, under the leadership of Shri Ambika Nath Mishra, Inspector General, Northern Railway, Shri Sachin Bhalode , Deputy Inspector General , Northern Railway , Shri Jyoti Mani , Divisional Security Commissioner , Railway Protection Force Delhi , Shri D.K. Chauhan , Assistant Security Commissioner/Headquarters , Delhi Division , Shri Mahesh Saini , Assistant Security Commissioner , New Delhi , Shri Narendra Kumar, Inspector-in-Charge , RPF Post , New Delhi , Shri Sandeep Kumar , Inspector , Delhi Reserve and Ms. Sonia , Inspector II , New Delhi and their team, on the information of a special informer, seized 24 pieces from the parcel vans of train no. 12381 Poorva Express, train no. 12951 Mumbai Rajdhani Express and train no. 12925 Paschim Express, which were checked by the team of RPF New Delhi. These pieces included 498 gram gold bars worth approximately Rs . 36,70,260 , 365.704 kg silver worth approximately Rs. 2,79,56,995 /- and Rs. 85,72,360 /- in cash (total worth Rs. 4,01,99,615 /-). Further action is being carried out by the Income Tax Department. This is the biggest recovery made by the Railway Protection Force /Northern Railway in a day . |
