| GDC Vijaypur Celebrates World Suicide Prevention Day | | | Early Times Report
VIJAYPUR, Sept 10: Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in collaboration with NSS Unit of GDC Vijaypur celebrated World Suicide Prevention Day by organizing a lecture on the theme 'changing the narrative'. The objective of celebrating this day was to spread awareness among the college students about preventing suicide, reducing stigma and helping people with bad mental health. Emphasis was also laid upon the importance of community support and early intervention in protecting lives with suicidal tendencies. NSS volunteers of the college participated in the lecture with curiosity, interest and attention. An awareness lecture was delivered by Prof. Ritu Bhagat (Convenor IQAC and HOD Education) where she raised awareness about reducing stigma and encouraging open conversations to prevent suicides among college students. She further stated changing the narrative on suicide is about transforming how we perceive this complex issue and shifting from a culture of silence and stigma to one of openness, understanding, and support.
