JAMMU, Sept 10: The National Service Scheme (NSS) units in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Science (EVS) at GGM Science College, Jammu, held a vibrant poster-making event on the theme "Environmental Pollution and Cleanliness." With over 50 students participating, the event became a platform for the students to express their concerns about environmental issues through artistic creativity.
The event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of GGM Science College, who commended the collaborative efforts of the NSS unit and the Department of Environmental Science. In his opening remarks, Dr. Gupta highlighted the crucial role students play in environmental conservation, urging them to lead by example and raise awareness about cleanliness and pollution control.
The organizing team was led by Dr. Rahul Kait and Dr. Neha Sharma, NSS Program Officers (POS), whose dedication ensured the event's success. Dr. Arti Sharma, Head of the EVS Department, played a significant role in guiding the participants, emphasizing the importance of education in creating environmentally conscious citizens. She motivated the students to take practical steps toward solving the challenges of pollution and promoting cleanliness, both locally and globally.
Esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Pankaj Mansotra and Dr. Ashaq Hussain, were also present, sharing their expertise on environmental protection and engaging with the students. Their involvement added depth to the discussions, encouraging students to think innovatively about addressing pollution and cleanliness issues.
The students' posters reflected a wide array of environmental concerns, from air and water pollution to waste management and sustainable practices. The posters not only captivated visually but also conveyed strong messages that urged the community to take immediate action. The best posters, selected for their creativity and relevance, were honored with certificates of appreciation.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Rahul Kait, who expressed his gratitude to the college's leadership, faculty, and students for their active involvement. He reaffirmed the NSS unit and Department of EVS's commitment to continuing initiatives that promote environmental awareness and societal change. This poster-making event is part of GGM Science College's broader efforts to engage students in meaningful, socially responsible activities aimed at creating a cleaner and sustainable future.
