Jammu, Sept 15; The Morning Walkers Association at Bahu Plaza organized an insightful yoga awareness session focused on the Ayurvedic principles of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. The session aimed to educate participants on how to balance these three doshas—representing body-mind constitutions—through yoga, breathing techniques, and lifestyle changes. Mr. Vikram Randhawa, Former MLC, was the Chief Guest, while Dr. Chander Mouli Raina, Retd Principal of Sanskrit Vidyalya, and Mr. Neeraj Puri, Ex-Corporator of Jammu Municipal Corporation, were Special Invitees. The event was presided over by Mr. Lekh Raj Sharma, Joint Director of Agriculture, with Dr. D.L. Chowdhry, Former HOD of Jammu University, conducting the program. Dr. Shreyansh Kumar Jain, State Yoga Commissioner and President of Vichar Kranti Manch International, led the session, emphasizing the importance of aligning the three doshas through specific yoga poses, breathing exercises, and mindful living. He explained that: • Vata (Air & Ether) governs movement, creativity, and flexibility. • Pitta (Fire & Water) governs metabolism, digestion, and transformation. • Kapha (Earth & Water) governs structure, lubrication, and stability. The signs of imbalance for each dosha were also discussed: • Vata Imbalance: Anxiety, dry skin, constipation, joint pain. • Pitta Imbalance: Irritability, inflammation, acidity, skin rashes. • Kapha Imbalance: Lethargy, weight gain, sinus issues, congestion. • For Vata: Grounding poses like Tree Pose (Vrikshasana), Mountain Pose (Tadasana), and Child’s Pose (Balasana), with slow, deep breathing (Ujjayi Pranayama). • For Pitta: Cooling poses like Forward bends (Paschimottanasana) and Twisting poses (Ardha Matsyendrasana), accompanied by cooling breaths (Sheetali & Sheetkari Pranayama). • For Kapha: Energizing poses like Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar) and Warrior Poses (Virabhadrasana), with fast-paced breathing (Kapalabhati). • Vata: Nadi Shodhana (Alternate nostril breathing) for balance. • Pitta: Sheetkari or Sheetali Pranayama for cooling. • Kapha: Bhastrika (Bellows breath) for energy stimulation. Dr. Jain also offered dietary and lifestyle suggestions for each dosha, such as warm, grounding foods for Vata, cooling foods for Pitta, and light, spicy foods for Kapha. Participants were encouraged to practice mindfulness meditation to maintain balance between mind, body, and spirit. The session was well-received by participants, including several retired government officers and dignitaries like Radhey Shyam, Raj Pal Verma, KS Arora, TR Puri, and Ashok Gupta, among others. Dr. D.L. Chowdhry presented the vote of thanks, with a special mention to Mr. Vikram Randhawa for attending the event despite his busy schedule. |
