9/15/2024 10:14:58 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 15: GGM Science College recently completed a massive two-day cleanliness drive on its campus, organized by the Local Fund Employees (LFEs) of the College. The drive was a follow-up to the “Clean Campus, Clean City” initiative, which was discussed during the Chetna Lecture Series held few days earlier.
The drive was conducted under the overall guidance of the College Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, and was supervised by Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Director of Physical Education, and Dr. Ashaq Hussain, Associate Professor of Chemistry. This comprehensive event included various activities aimed at promoting cleanliness and sanitation, including awareness sessions, waste collection and disposal, and beautification of specific spaces.
On the first day, LFEs gathered on campus and participated in an informative session highlighting the importance of cleanliness and its positive impact on overall well-being. Following this, they collectively engaged in cleaning and sanitizing the college premises. The second day saw an even more enthusiastic group extending their efforts to the surrounding areas, removing debris, and focusing on proper waste segregation for effective disposal. Throughout the two days, the LFEs took proactive steps to clear unwanted shrubs, bushes, and wild grass across the campus. In line with sustainable practices, the collected solid waste was systematically segregated and disposed of according to the principles of reuse and recycling.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta emphasized the significance of cleanliness in creating a conducive educational environment. He expressed his appreciation for the dedication of the LFEs, referring to them as the backbone of the College in maintaining a neat and clean campus. Dr. Gupta also remarked that such campaigns are crucial in promoting good hygiene, protecting the working environment, and reducing the incidence of diseases.
The event concluded on a positive note, with participants pledging to uphold cleanliness in their surroundings and to continue spreading awareness about hygiene practices. The dedication shown by the Local Fund Employees of GGM Science College during this drive is a testament to their commitment to improving the campus and contributing to the broader national goal of cleanliness.
