NHPC targets 16700 MW capacity by 2030 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 16: At the 4th Global RE-INVEST inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi on 16th September 2024 at Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Shri R.K. Chaudhary, CMD, NHPC handed over Letters of Commitment stating NHPC’s targets towards Renewable Energy Development in India to Shri Pralhad Venkatesh Joshi, Hon’ble Minister of New and Renewable Energy at the inaugural session of the event. The Letters of Commitment asserts NHPC’s aim to install 16,700 MW of renewable energy and produce 500 MT/year of Green Hydrogen by 2030. This initiative will support India’s 500 GW non-fossil fuel electricity capacity goal. NHPC has proposed an investment of Rs 80,261 crore towards the development, construction and commissioning of these renewable energy projects and an investment of Rs 450 crore towards meeting of production capacity of Green Hydrogen and its derivatives by 2030. The development of the proposed projects is likely to create more than 20,000 job opportunities during their construction and operation. NHPC will also fulfill its responsibility to contribute to the local economy and communities by implementing the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. |
