GGM Science College hosts electrifying inauguration of Inter-Collegiate Football Tournament

JAMMU, Sept 18: Today Inter-Collegiate Football Tournament was inaugurated at the GGM Science College grounds with an impressive and exhilarating opening ceremony. The event was graced by Dr. S.P. Sarswat, Principal of PSPS GCW Gandhi Nagar and Nodal Principal for Jammu Division Colleges, who led the inaugural proceedings being the Chief Guest of the event. The ceremony was further elevated by the presence of Dr. Naven Anand, Dean of Academic Affairs at Cluster University Jammu, as guest of honour and Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of GGM Science College Jammu. The gathering also included Principals of various colleges that include Prof. (Dr) Rajinder Sing Principal SPMR Commerce College Jammu, Prof. (Dr.) B. B. Anand Principal MAM College Jammu, Prof. (Dr) Jyoti Parihar Principal B.Ed. College Jammu, esteemed faculty members, Physical Directors of constituent colleges, a vibrant array of students, and football players.
The event on behalf of Cluster University of Jammu, was organized under the meticulous supervision and guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal GGM Science College, with close coordination from Dr. Vinod Kumar Bakshi, Director Physical Education and sports, Dr. Anshul Sawhney Convener Hospitality and Protocol committee, Dr. Sunil Dutt, Convener of the Sports Committee, and Dr. Ashaq Hussain, In-Charge of Football on behalf of Cluster University of Jammu. The opening ceremony was made festive by the rythem of band played by the Police Pipe band accompanied by the NCC Cadets, and of the College lead by Dr. Shafia Saleem and Dr. Davinder Kumar (NCC Officers) besides NSS Volunteers.
Earlier Dr. Ashaq Hussain, Associate Professor and In-Charge of the football game, while carring the proceedings of the Programm, extended a warm welcome to all guests and dignitaries at the grand ceremony. Following this, Dr. Vinod Kumar Bakshi delivered an insightful introductory address, setting the stage for the day's festivities. Later, in his presidential address, Prof. S.P. Sarswat emphasized the significance of sports and extracurricular activities, noting that the tournament transcends mere competition. He highlighted that the event is a celebration of sportsmanship, unity, and the remarkable talent possessed by each student. Prof. Sarswat inspired the players by stating that true success begins within oneself and that each participant has the inner spark and drive to not only compete but excel and showcase their best on the field.
The inauguration marked the beginning of what promises to be a thrilling and memorable football tournament, celebrating the spirit of sports and camaraderie among colleges.In the very first match Played between Mam College Jammu and SPMR College of Commerce Jammu, the 1st goal was scored by Vishavjeet Singh for M. A. M College whereas the other goal for the same team was score by Rakshit in 25th minute in this way in the inaugural match, MAM College Jammu registered win by 2-0 goals. The match was officiated by Aman Sudan, Karthik Sharma, Atul Verma, Rahul Sharma, and Gagan Kumar in presence of Physical Directors of constituent Colleges of Cluster university Jammu including Neenu Sawhney, Ravi Kumar, Ramandeep Kralia and Kajal Premi. Others who were present on the occasion include Dr. Anshul Sawhney, Dr. Arun Sharma, Dr. Shafia Saleem, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Dr. Mona Sethi, Dr. Ankush, Prof. Nisha Sharma, Prof. Kiran Bala, Prof. Vishal and Dr. Sheetu Raina.
