NSS units of GDC Udhampur organises cleaniless drive

Udhampur, Sept 24: On 24th September 2024 the NSS Units of GDC Udhampur under the Patronage of worthy Principal Prof. Sanjay Verma organized a cleanliness drive under the Theme ‘Swachchta he Sewa’ outside the college campus i.e area of stairs just adjoining to the college. The decision of choosing such area was purely of the volunteers who actually wants to ease the people living near those stairs from the garbage and the diseases spread by it frequently in the surrounding houses, moreover to make others realize the need of cleanliness in our surrounding.
Prior to the drive Worthy Principal sir briefed volunteers the need of cleanliness and how important it is to live in a clean environment, he also motivated volunteers to make our country clean and green.
NSS POs Dr. Gurpreet Kour and Prof. Sanjeet Singh while addressing volunteers also emphasized on the importance of clean society and clean India, and appealed volunteers to sensitize public so as to make our country clean.
The volunteers were flagged off by Worthy Principal Prof. Sanjay Verma along with senior faculty members viz. Prof. B.L.Thakur, Prof. Suresh K. Dogra, Prof. S.K.Bhat, Prof. Shobana Sambyal and staff secretary Dr. Jagjeet Singh from the college main gate, the onlookers including staff and students of the college were surprised to see the enthusiasm and the innovative placards made by volunteers on the slogan “ Swatchta he Sewa”.
Almost 50 volunteers along with POs started the drive from college main gate by shouting slogans on “Make India Clean” throughout their way from college campus to their nearby destination. Few of our volunteers also visited near by houses of colony so as to sensitize them not to throw garbage on the roads.
It was a successful event wherein the students also interacted with the citizens, on reaching campus back worthy Principal Sir congratulated the NSS Volunteers and wished them bright future and motivate them to work for prosperity of nation.
