Assembly Elections: DEO reviews Counting Day Preparations | | | Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Sept 26: While reviewing the preparations for counting of votes, the District Election Officer (DEO) Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), accompanied by SSP Kishtwar, Abdul Qayoom (JKPS), today visited the proposed Counting halls for the counting of votes besides inspected the strong rooms at Kendriya Vidyalaya, where the polled Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) from the recent Assembly Election are securely stored. During the inspection, DEO Kishtwar meticulously assessed the three-tier security system in place, ensuring that every protocol is being followed with utmost precision. The inspection included a detailed examination of the log Register, CCTV cameras, and the control room. The DEO emphasized the importance of maintaining a flawless security setup around the clock, reviewing the 24x7 deployment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel dedicated to securing the strong rooms. A key point of focus during the inspection was to take stock of the Counting centers to be established adjacent to the strong room for upcoming counting day.He was satisfied with the preparations made by the ROs with the assistance of PWD. Later, the Officer held a comprehensive interactive meeting with Master Trainers including District Level Master Trainers (DLMTs) and Assembly Level Master Trainers (ALMTs) in preparation for the upcoming counting day on October 8, 2024, under the Assembly Elections. The meeting focused on fine-tuning the district's preparedness to ensure a smooth and efficient counting process. He lauded the role played by the Master trainers for training the staff and polling parties who exhibited the full accuracy of the procedure. He extended the congratulations to the Master Trainers on behalf of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) J&K, acknowledging their pivotal role in the successful conduct of the Assembly Elections across the district. Shavan further instructed Election Naib Tehsildar Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Jasrotia, to closely coordinate with the MTs to initiate training sessions for the staff involved in the counting process, strictly adhering to the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines. The key aspects discussed during the meeting included the training of manpower for counting duties, the establishment of a media cell for real-time dissemination of counting updates, a detailed road and traffic management plan, and of victory processions in the town if any post counting etc. The DEO emphasized the importance of meticulously refining all preparations to ensure that the counting day operations are conducted with the highest level of efficiency and transparency. The election authorities have been directed to fine-tune all necessary arrangements, ensuring that every detail is in place for a successful and orderly counting process.
