Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 2: The 14th District Srinagar Taekwondo Championship 2024-25 came to a successful conclusion today at the Sher E Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, Srinagar. The event, organized by the Taekwondo Association of District Srinagar with the support of the J&K Taekwondo Association and the J&K Sports Council, saw a remarkable turnout of athletes from across the district. The championship featured competitions in various age categories, including Sub-Junior, Cadets, Junior, and Senior divisions for both boys and girls. Mr. Junaid Mayer, Secretary of the Taekwondo Association of District Srinagar, spearheaded the event and distributed medals to the young athletes, recognizing their hard work and dedication. The closing ceremony was graced by Dr. Basharat Ali, Assistant Director of the Directorate of Physical Education at Kashmir University, as the chief guest. He delivered an inspiring speech, encouraging the young athletes to continue their journey in sports and strive for excellence in Taekwondo. Around 150 athletes representing various schools and clubs from District Srinagar participated in the championship. The competition provided an excellent platform for these athletes to showcase their Taekwondo skills and compete at a high level. The winners of this championship are now eligible to represent District Srinagar in the upcoming 27th J&K UT Taekwondo Championship 2024-25. The technical aspects of the event were overseen by Mr. Harish Tokas, an International Coach appointed by the J&K Taekwondo Association. The referee panel included highly experienced officials: Burhan Ud Din Khan (National Referee), Suhail Ahmed (National Referee), Zain Nazir (National Referee), Hashim Majeed (National Referee), and Suvaid (State Referee), who ensured fair and competitive matches throughout the championship. Rajesh Pangotra, President of JKTA, and Shri Ramesh Kumar Chandra extended their gratitude to Ms. Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of J&K Sports Council, for her unwavering support in making this event a resounding success. The Secretary of the Taekwondo Association of District Srinagar also expressed sincere thanks to all participants, officials, and supporters for their dedication and contribution to the championship's success.
