Katra, Oct 9: The mesmerizing theatrical presentation of Mata Ki Kahani during the Navratra Festival 2024 at Katra has been lauded as one of the most outstanding performances ever witnessed in the region. Principal Secretary Culture, Shri Suresh Kumar Gupta, who attended the event along with prominent dignitaries, praised the show for its world-class execution, equating it with international standards. He was joined by Secretary Culture, Ms. Deepika Sharma, and Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages, Ms. Harvinder Kaur, along with other high-profile attendees including Rayees Mohammad Bhat, IPS, DIG Reasi-Udhampur Range, Alok Kumar Maurya, IFS, Additional CEO, SMVDSB, and Gaurav Sikarwar, IPS, SSP Reasi, among others. The play, written and directed by Padamshree Balwant Thakur, vividly brought to life the legend of Mata Vaishno Devi. Shri Gupta, while applauding the talent behind the performance, remarked, "The level of professionalism and creativity displayed in Mata Ki Kahani sets it apart as a show that matches any international production. It unfolds the story of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi in a manner that resonates with both the local and national audience." Balwant Thakur shared his experience in creating this monumental production, a process that took over three years. His renowned theater group, Natrang, was behind this visually and emotionally powerful retelling of the legend, which transported the audience on a magical journey through the mythological tale of the Goddess. The play was celebrated for its near-perfect execution in every department, from lighting to stage design, and its overall visual poetry, which left the audience spellbound. The large pan-India audience in attendance appreciated the show's depth, expressing their desire for it to be staged throughout the year for the benefit of the millions of pilgrims who visit Katra annually. Among the notable aspects of the performance was the cast, which included a talented ensemble of actors such as Neeraj Kant, Brijesh Avtar Sharma, Palshin Dutta, and Kananpreet Kaur, among many others. The lighting design was by Shivam Singh, while the stunning sets were crafted by Veerji Sumbli. The event was skillfully coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen. The showcase of Mata Ki Kahani has not only elevated the cultural richness of the Navratra Festival but also deepened the connection of the audience to the divine story of Mata Vaishno Devi, a narrative deeply embedded in Hindu tradition and faith. |
