DC reviews district Capex Budget progress for FY 2024-25

KISHTWAR, Oct 9: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of projects under the District Capital Expenditure (Capex) Budget for the financial year 2024-25.
The sectors included minor irrigation, roads and buildings (R&B), education, youth services, health, urban development, and Jal Shakti etc.
The DDC took note of the progress made in these sectors and urged the departments to ensure that the physical achievements align with financial expenditure targets, avoiding any potential lapses.
It was reported that for the financial year 2024-25, a total of 1,753 new works were taken up, out of which 858 had received Administrative Approval (AA). So far, 289 projects have been tendered out. Regarding ongoing works, of the 223 projects in progress, 174 have been completed, while 50 remain under various stages of execution.
R K Shavan emphasized the importance of expediting both new and ongoing projects. He directed all indenting departments to complete ongoing works by the end of October and ensure 100 percent utilisation of funds within a week.
He stressed to swiftly allot the new works, ensuring that executing agencies can begin work without delay. He further urged the concerned departments to prioritize the completion of pending works to meet deadlines and prevent delays.
The DDC also underscored the need for strict adherence to quality standards and timelines for all projects. He stressed that any compromise on the quality of work or failure to meet time standards would result in strict legal action against the executing agencies or contractors. "Quality and timely execution of projects are non-negotiable. We will take strict action under relevant legal provisions if there is any violation," Shavan stated.
In addition to reviewing the Capex works, the DDC also assessed the progress of other key developmental programs, including the Area Development Plan, which includes DDC, BDC, and PRI Grants, as well as the Aspirational Block Development Programme (ABDP) for the year 2024-25.
The implementation of SOS was also discussed, with the DDC urging departments to maintain momentum and meet the set timelines for completion. The DDC impressed for the district administration's focus on effective project management to ensure that the benefits of development reach the people of Kishtwar in a timely and efficient manne
