Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Oct 9: Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office embarked on a significant outreach initiative today with the flagging off of a high-profile bike rally from Dal Gate, Ghat no. 14, Srinagar by Sneh Lata, Deputy Director General, North Region, BIS. The rally, which aims to raise awareness about the importance of BIS standards, will traverse through challenging terrains and conclude at Siachen Base Camp. The event was organised by BIS Jammu and Kashmir branch office. Tilak Raj, Director & Head, BIS Jammu & Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO), who was also present at the flag-off ceremony. In collaboration with key sponsors like Khyber Cement, Steelbird Helmets, and social media influencers, this initiative is expected to amplify BIS's message on the critical importance of standards for quality, safety, and sustainable development across remote regions of India. As part of the day's events, BIS officials held a meeting at the District Industries Centre (DIC) in Anantnag, where crucial discussions were held with DIC officials on enhancing the implementation of BIS standards across industries. Key points on the agenda included: Collaboration between BIS and local industries to ensure higher compliance with quality standards, Strategies for enhancing consumer awareness on the importance of certified products, Plans for future outreach programs to promote BIS standards within smaller industrial hubs. A roadmap for integrating BIS certification into Anantnag's industrial and manufacturing sectors, ensuring products meet national and international quality benchmarks was also discussed.
