| GDC organizes lecture on Menstrual hygiene | | |

Ramnagar, Oct 10: Women development cell of GDC Ramnagar initiated the celebration of international Girl child week 2024 from 7-10-2024 to 11-10-2024 under the able patronship of Dr Bhavnaish Chand Anthal, Principal GDC Ramnagar.
The events were organized under the Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of women (Mission Shakti) Udhampur. The International Day of the girl child aligns with the mandate of the scheme Beti Bachaao Beti Padhao (BBBP), reinforcing the commitment to the survival, protection and empowerment of the girls.
On day 4 of the celebration of international girl child week, a seminar on the topic- Menstrual hygiene was organized on 10th October, 2024.The resource person for the event was Prof. Sumita Rao, HOD Zoology. In her lecture she emphasized to break the stigma and taboos surrounding menstruation and to ensure that everyone has access to menstrual products. In addition to this she talked about the health risks related with poor menstrual hygiene. Around 50 students attended the session
Prof Eisha Gohil, convener, Women Development Cell discussed with students about the need to impart know the benefits of good menstrual hygiene practices for women.
(Prof.) Dr Bhavnaish Chand Anthal, Principal GDC Ramnagar highlighted the importance of educating the females about menstrual hygiene. He also emphasized that good menstrual hygiene management plays fundamental role in enabling women to reach their full potential.
The formal vote of thanks was given by Prof Ritika Mahajan, NSS P.O., Prof Sonia Raj, Prof. Parminder Kumar and Prof. Tanmeet Kour also graced the event with their presence. |
