Early Times Report

POONCH, Oct 10: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Poonch, Vikas Kundal chaired a DLRC & DCC meeting to review the performance of banks under the Annual Credit Plan (ACP) for the financial year 2024-25 and assess government-sponsored cases for the April to June quarter.
Lead District Manager (LDM) Poonch, Ashutosh Raj Koul, presented the performance report. He informed the committee that banks operating in the district had disbursed a total of Rs 265.02 crore under the ACP against an annual target of Rs 725.02 crore, achieving 37% of the target. Of this, Rs 91.44 crore was disbursed in the priority sector, achieving 16% of the target against an annual goal of Rs 571.10 crore. Meanwhile, Rs 173.58 crore was disbursed in the non-priority sector, exceeding the target of Rs 153.91 crore by achieving 113%.
The committee was also informed that the total deposits and advances in the district stood at Rs 3,848.73 crore and Rs 2,089.96 crore, respectively, as of June 30, 2024, compared to Rs 3,574.41 crore and Rs 1,837.59 crore during the same period last year. This marks a year-on-year (YoY) growth of 7.67% in deposits and 13.73% in advances. The Credit-Deposit (CD) Ratio of the district also improved to 54.30% as of June 30, 2024, up from 51.41% in the corresponding period of 2023, reflecting a YoY growth of 5.62%.
DDC Poonch and Chairman DLRC, Vikas Kundal urged all stakeholders, including officials from the banking sector, agriculture, horticulture, livestock, handicrafts, and other government departments, to foster an environment that encourages youth to explore opportunities beyond government jobs. “To address the challenge of employment generation, we must strengthen avenues for gainful self-employment and support entrepreneurial aspirations through various credit facilities,” he said.
The Chairman also stressed the importance of enhancing performance under priority sector lending and directed all participants to ensure that results are tangible on the ground. He emphasized the need for empathy and proactive guidance in helping unemployed youth access credit opportunities, paving the way for self-sufficiency and prosperity.
