SCERT, organises Divisional Level Science Drama Competition

JAMMU, Oct 15: The State Council of Educational Research and Training, Jammu Division under the patronage of Honourable Principal Secretary School Education Department Sh. Suresh Kumar Gupta, IFS proudly hosted the Divisional level National Science Drama competition at Teacher Bhawan, Gandhi Nagar Jammu, bringing together the brightest minds to explore and showcase the intellectual and creative talent of students from ten districts of Jammu Division. The competition revolved around the central theme, "Science and Technology for the benefits of mankind", with sub themes such as Global water crisis, AI and society, Modern technology for disaster management, health and hygiene, and climate change and its impact.
The programme commenced with a grand inauguration ceremony that included the recital of the National Anthem, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolising the illumination of knowledge and wisdom.
At the outset, Lakshmi Puri extended a warm greeting to the distinguished guests, DIET Principals, DNO's, Jury members, escort teachers, participants and audience.
Following the welcome address, Sh. H.R.Pakhroo, Joint Director Central Move, and Prof. Dr. Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director JKSCERT, Jammu JDivision declared the event open and formally inaugurated the programme. They congratulated the efforts of the organising team and participants for using science and drama as a tool for raising awareness about global issues.
The Programme was spearheaded under the stewardship of Prof. Dr. Sindhu Kapoor, supported by DIET Principals of ten districts of Jammu Division and a panel of expert jury members comprising of Dr. Amarjeet Singh Assistant Prof. IMFA, University of Jammu, Sh. Sanjeev Gupta, Cultural Officer, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and Sh. Shashikant Lakhanpal, Convenor, Cultural and Coordination Cell DSE, Jammu.
The JK, SCERT Jammu Division was entrusted with the responsibility of organising the contest at the Cluster, Zone, District and Divisional Level. The heart of the event at Divisional Level was the captivating presentations by the student teams from the ten districts of Jammu Division. Each team presented its views in an engaging and thought-provoking manner, using drama as a medium to convey scientific concepts in an impactful manner.
Following the presentations, the valedictory function marked the culmination of the day's activities. The event was graced by the distinguished presence of Prof. (Dr.) Parikshat Singh Manhas, Director, JKSCERT as Chief Guest, who while addressing the participants and audience lauded Jammu Division for the successful organisation of the event conducted under the aegis of Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. He felicitated all the winners and encouraged the participants to be the part of more such programmes.
Medals, trophies and certificates were presented to the winning teams, celebrating their exceptional talent in the field of drama and scientific creativity.
The first place was awarded to the team from Distt Kathua, second place was bagged by Distt. Jammu and the third place went to the team of Distt. Reasi. In addition to the team awards, certificates were given to honour individual excellence. For their remarkable performances, best director award went to Shiv Nandan of Kathua, best actor award was bagged by Vansh Kumar from Kathua, best actress award was given to Sunakshi Devi from Reasi and the award in the best script writer category was presented to Shashi Rani from Kathua. Besides this, members of organising team were also presented certificates for best execution of the programme.
