Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Oct 22: A delegation from the Senior Citizens' Club Udhampur, led by General Secretary Raj Guru, met with Deputy Commissioner IAS Saloni Rai to address several long-standing issues affecting the senior citizen community. Among the key concerns discussed was the urgent need for a washroom and pantry at the club premises, which the Deputy Commissioner assured would be addressed promptly. The delegation also highlighted the necessity for better access to hospitals, improved healthcare services, and additional recreational facilities for senior citizens. Another pressing issue raised was the shortfall of wood at the local cremation ghat and the rising costs associated with it. The delegation requested an increase in wood supply and the provision of subsidized rates to alleviate the financial burden on families during difficult times. The delegation urged swift action on these matters, emphasizing the importance of implementing the Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act to ensure the welfare of the elderly. Additionally, the club's magazine, which showcases its initiatives for the senior citizen community, was presented during the meeting. |
