Early Times Report KATHUA, Oct 22: The J&K Police Kathua observed National Police Commemoration Day today at the District Police Line (DPL) Kathua, honoring the sacrifices of police martyrs who lost their lives in the line of duty. The event featured a Police Ceremonial Parade commanded by SDPO Border, Shri Dheeraj Katoch (JKPS), with PSI Swaran Singh Manhas serving as the second parade commander. During the ceremony, SSP Kathua Shri Shobhit Saksena (IPS) read out the names of police martyrs from across the country, recognizing their valor and dedication to maintaining the nation's sovereignty and integrity. Following the parade, floral tributes were paid to the martyrs at the Martyr's Memorial by DDC Chairman Kathua Retd. Col. Mahan Singh, SSP Kathua, along with other dignitaries from civil administration, the army, and retired personnel. SSP Saksena also engaged with the next of kin of the martyrs, assuring them of support from Kathua Police. Families of the martyrs visited the Police Martyrs Gallery at DPL Kathua, where gift items were distributed. The commemoration continued with a motorbike rally, flagged off by SSP Kathua, which saw participation from police personnel, local bikers, and residents. The rally started from DPL Kathua, passing through Tangri and City Chowk, before returning to DPL. Participants displayed patriotic banners and flags, echoing slogans of national pride along the route. SSP Kathua expressed, "We salute our martyrs who have given their lives to protect the nation. This motorbike rally is a tribute to their bravery and sacrifice." The day concluded with refreshments for all guests in attendance.
