| GDC Nagrota organizes one day workshop | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 24: A one day Workshop on Solid waste Management was organized at GDC Nagrota in collaboration with RUDA( Regional Urban Development Agency), a multidisciplinary consultancy. The chief speaker of the programme was Mr. Sanjeev Arora ( CEO, RUDA). He elaborated upon the work RUDA is doing in the field of Urban House hold waste management at the grass root level .Solid waste is one of the major challenges of urban India with its increasing volume and complexity. It poses a serious threat to the environment and human health. In this regard effective sensitization of the youth is of paramount importance. Students were given demonstrations on how they can manage their day to day life waste especially plastic waste in a scientific way. More than 50 students attended this workshop. Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the College, Prof. Anjali Mahajan urged students to adopt solid waste management practices in their daily lives. College will aim to pave its path ahead in solid waste management by collecting the dry waste at its premises in suitable bins and then responsibly transferring it to RUDA' s facility for recycling. The programme was organized by Eco club Sangrakshak and IIC of the College which includes, Dr. Vandana Ghai, Prof. Aanchal Sharma, Prof. Arvind Sharma and Prof. Jaspal Singh. |
