KISHTWAR, Oct 25: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan today chaired a meeting involving line and police departments, besides representatives of civil society, to assess preparations for the light of festivals-Diwali. The meeting was intended to make all necessary arrangements for hassle free celebration of the festival. A wide range of aspects of the preparations, such as security, law and order, traffic regulation, drinking water and power supply, sanitation, healthcare, quality control of eatables, and fire safety, were discussed and finalized. Team of enforcement departments led by Tehsildar were constituted at each tehsil to intensify market inspections to prevent overpricing, profiteering, and black-marketing while ensuring the quality of food products, especially preventing adulteration of ghee, khoya, and other items. The health department was directed to keep ambulances ready for any kind of mishap, while the Fire and Emergency Services department will maintain an adequate number of fire tenders on alert at various locations to prevent any case arising out of fire incidents. For regulating the sale and purchasing of Firecrackers it was decided that stalls shall be allowed only at specific locations like Chowgan Ground, Kishtwar, by ensuring a fire safety gap and materials such as fire extinguishers and sand buckets ready. The police department will implement security measures in public and religious places during the festival. The ADC will deploy duty magistrates and establish a control room. XEn PHE, PDD were asked to ensure uninterrupted water supply and power supply (JPDCL) during the Deepawali festival. DC directed officers to hold preparedness meetings in their respective headquarters to ensure timely and smooth arrangements for the festival, such as checking firecracker prices, displaying the prices of sweets, monitoring firecracker wholesalers, and enforcing the ban on unauthorized firecracker sales at the district, subdivision, and tehsil levels. During the meeting, representative of the Sanatan Dharm Sabha highlighted the requirements for an effective celebration of the holy festival. The DC assured them that all issues would be addressed through timely intervention from the concerned departments.
