Early Times Report Tral, Nov 8: The Government Degree College (GDC) Tral, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi, successfully organized a two-day national seminar titled ‘Revisiting the Moral Teachings of Sufis and Rishis of Kashmir’ from November 5th to 6th, 2024. The seminar explored the deep moral wisdom of Kashmir’s Sufi saints and Rishis and their lasting impact on the region’s socio-cultural fabric. A total of 27 abstracts were received, with significant contributions from Kashmir University, IUST Awantipora, University of Jammu, Jamia Millia Islamia, and B.R. Ambedkar University Bihar. The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Mushtaq Ahmad Malik, Principal of GDC Tral, in the presence of eminent scholars including Prof. Showket Hussain Dar, Dr. Jehangir Iqbal, and Prof. Bashar Bashir, who delivered keynotes emphasizing the relevance of Sufi and Rishi teachings in contemporary society. The event featured the release of two translated books: Himaal and Nagrai and Beboojnama, showcasing the historical and literary richness of Kashmir. Technical sessions followed with presentations from leading scholars discussing topics such as economic morality in Kashmiri mysticism, the concept of divine unity, and Sufi contributions to building a just society. The seminar concluded with a valedictory session, where participants and presenters were honored with certificates, and the organizers expressed gratitude to ICSSR for their sponsorship. The successful event was a step towards preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Kashmir’s spiritual legacy. |
