GLDM GDC Hiranagar installs sanitary pad vending machine | | | Early Times Report HIRANAGAR, Nov 13: Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Government Degree College (GDC) Hiranagar has taken a significant step in promoting the health and well-being of its female students and staff by installing a sanitary pad vending machine and an incinerator in the college's "pink washroom." This initiative, part of the college's EcoSanitation Club, aims to provide accessible and affordable menstrual hygiene products and environmentally safe disposal methods. The installation was inaugurated by the college's Principal, Dr. Pragya Khanna, in a small ceremony attended by staff members and female students. Dr. Khanna emphasized that the initiative reflects the college's commitment to a supportive and inclusive environment, providing essential health amenities that promote dignity and comfort for all women on campus. The vending machine will offer students and staff easy access to sanitary pads, while the incinerator enables safe disposal in line with environmental sustainability goals. Recognizing the additional needs of female staff, GDC Hiranagar has also introduced designated rest rooms and feeding rooms for lactating mothers, creating private spaces that support both work and family responsibilities. "Our priority is to foster a campus environment where every member feels valued and empowered," said Dr. Khanna. "These amenities highlight our commitment to gender inclusivity and the well-being of our female students and staff, supporting their health and dignity." The new installations mark a positive step in the college's ongoing efforts to enhance its facilities, fostering a safer and more inclusive community for women on campus. |
