Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 13: Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police for Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, convened a crucial meeting to review security preparations for the ongoing Jhiri Mela 2024. The meeting, attended by senior officials including SSP Jammu, SP Rural Jammu, SDPO Domana, and other key stakeholders, focused on ensuring the safety and security of the pilgrims. DIG Sharma emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among all agencies to safeguard pilgrims, particularly during their journey, stay, and at langar sites. He stressed the importance of implementing "Operation Third Eye" and reinforced security measures along key routes, border areas, and in the city, especially during night and early hours. Additionally, the DIG directed officers to monitor crowd control, prevent petty crimes such as pickpocketing, and keep a close watch on anti-social elements. He also stressed the importance of close coordination with intelligence agencies and ensuring that emergency medical and disaster management services are in place to handle any health-related issues during the Mela. DIG Sharma visited the Kahnachack BSF post to discuss security concerns with BSF authorities and provided necessary directives for enhanced coordination. |
