Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 15: Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit, led by its state chief Manish Sahni, staged a protest at Indira Chowk against skyrocketing inflation and rising food prices. Holding placards with slogans like "People are troubled by inflation, government is busy in elections" and "Why has inflation become a darling in Modi Raj?", party members voiced their anger over the increasing burden on the common man. Sahni highlighted that inflation and black marketing have made it challenging for families to afford two meals a day. Essential kitchen staples such as onions, potatoes, tomatoes, and garlic have become unaffordable, while the soaring prices of pulses and edible oil have further strained household budgets. "In 10.5 years of BJP's rule, inflation remains unchecked. The rising cost of living and unemployment will push people towards hunger and malnutrition," Sahni warned. He also noted that Jammu and Kashmir has one of the highest inflation rates in the country, exacerbating the struggles of its residents. The protest concluded with Sahni extending greetings on the auspicious occasions of Kartik Purnima and the 555th Prakash Parv of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Several leaders, including Meenakshi Chhibber, Jai Bharti, Vikas Bakshi, and others, participated in the demonstration. |
