Agencies JALANDHAR, Nov 18: Lovely Professional University (LPU) hosted the North-Zone Inter-University Kabaddi (Men) Tournament on its campus. This four-day mega event witnessed participation from 61 teams and over 700+ players, accompanied by their coaches, from institutions across the northern region of India. Teams competed for a coveted spot among the top four in the zone and a chance to advance to the National All India University (AIU) kabaddi championship. The tournament concluded with the team from LPU emerging as the champions, securing the gold medal with a significant margin. Punjabi University, Patiala, claimed the silver medal, while Guru Kashi University earned the bronze. LPU's Nikesh emerged as Best Defender, while Puneet from GKU earned the Best Raider title. The event's closing ceremony was graced by Dr. Lovi Raj Gupta, Pro Vice-Chancellor of LPU, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Gupta congratulated the winners, participants, and their coaches, acknowledging their critical role in nurturing the players' skills and sportsmanship. Dr. Gupta stated, "LPU shall continue to support initiatives that inspire young talent and elevate the spirit of sportsmanship across the region." Dr. Gupta encouraged the winning teams to prepare for the challenges at the national level and emphasized the importance of maintaining mental and physical balance for long-term success in sports.
