Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 18: Manodarpan, the Psychological Counselling Cell of Government Gandhi Memorial Science College (GGM Science College), Jammu, organized a special lecture and interactive session on "Awareness of Stress and Stress Management" on November 18, 2024. The event was held under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the college, and the guidance of Prof. Bal Krishan, Convener of Manodarpan. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Shabila Wani, Associate Professor at GDC Samba and a clinical psychology expert. The session began with a formal welcome address by Prof. Bal Krishan, who emphasized the importance of managing stress in today's fast-paced world, especially in academic settings. Dr. Shabila Wani provided valuable insights into identifying common stressors and adopting effective strategies for stress management. She highlighted practical techniques for stress relief, aiming to improve mental health and well-being. The session included an interactive segment where students and faculty shared their experiences and sought advice on coping mechanisms, making it both informative and engaging. The programme was attended by over 80 students from undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as faculty members including Dr. Vandana Khajuria, Dr. Shalini Sharma, Dr. Sheetu Raina, and Prof. Varun Arya. In his concluding remarks, Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta lauded the efforts of the Manodarpan Cell in promoting mental health awareness and highlighted the need for such initiatives to create a supportive environment where both students and faculty can address mental health challenges openly. The event was successfully organized with the efforts of the Psychological Counselling Cell, including Dr. Neha Mahajan, Dr. Arjun Singh Rathore, Dr. Arun Sharma, and Dr. Nisha. The programme was compered by Prof. Akanksha Parihar, and the vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Jyotdeep Kour Raina. This lecture reaffirmed Manodarpan's ongoing commitment to promoting mental health awareness and supporting the well-being of the academic community.
