Kishtwar, Nov 21, 2024: In a remarkable breakthrough, Jammu & Kashmir Police have solved the blind murder case of a woman and her two children in Drabshalla, Kishtwar, revealing that the tragic fire that claimed their lives was a premeditated crime. On November 11, 2024, a devastating fire broke out in the house of Khursheed Ahmed in Jisher Drabshalla, claiming the lives of his first wife, Nazia Begum (35), and their children, Amina Bano (10) and Rizan Ahmed (5). Initially believed to be an accidental fire, the case raised suspicions, prompting the police to launch a thorough investigation. A Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by Inspector Firdous Ahmed and supervised by Dy. SP Dr. Ishan Gupta, was formed to probe the case. Through diligent technical analysis and questioning of multiple suspects, the investigation revealed that Khursheed Ahmed had two wives—Nazia and Asma Begum. The police investigation uncovered a complex web of domestic disputes, eventually leading them to Asma Begum. After sustained interrogation, Asma Begum confessed to the crime in front of an Executive Magistrate, admitting that she had killed Nazia and her children due to ongoing personal conflicts. The police quickly arrested Asma Begum, and the case was formally converted into an FIR. SSP Kishtwar commended the efforts of the SIT for their dedication in cracking the case and emphasized that such heinous crimes would be dealt with the full force of the law. District Police Kishtwar remains committed to ensuring justice and safeguarding the community. |
