Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 25: The Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Govt. College for Women, Gandhinagar, witnessed an enthusiastic display of democratic participation as it conducted its much-awaited General Body Elections today. The event, held in the college auditorium, was organized under the patronage of Dr. S.P. Sarswat, Principal of the College, and saw active involvement from students who were elected as Class Representatives (CRs) and volunteers in Phase 1, followed by the General Body elections in Phase 2. Dr. Archana Bakshi, Head of the English Department, and Prof. Surinder Parihar, Head of the History Department, served as Observers during the elections, ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the process. Phase 1 focused on electing Class Representatives and volunteers, whose role is vital as intermediaries between the student body and the administration. The enthusiasm during this phase was evident in the high voter turnout and the collective spirit of the students, which set a positive tone for the second phase of the elections. In Phase 2, students voted for the General Body, which holds key portfolios that influence college governance and student affairs, as per the constitution formulated by the Student Welfare Committee. The election process was meticulously organized, with transparency being a priority. The efforts of the Student Welfare Committee, led by Dr. Anjali Bhat, Dr. Meenakshi Bandral, and Dr. Asha Bharti, contributed to the smooth conduct of the elections.
