NMC appeals for release of pending DA | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 2: Subash Shastri, President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC), has urged the J&K Chief Minister to release the pending 3% Dearness Allowance (DA) installment due since July 2024 for government employees and pensioners. Highlighting that the Central Government and several states, including Ladakh, have already implemented the hike, Shastri called for swift action to provide relief amidst rising prices of essential goods. He emphasized that DA, being a part of the salary, should not face delays and advocated for its exemption from income tax due to its direct link with the price index. Shastri also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expedite the appointment of the chairman and members of the 8th Pay Commission to address uncertainties among employees and pensioners. Further demands included: Creation of a separate wage head for timely salary disbursement to daily-rated workers. Wage enhancement to ?600 per day and regularization of their services. Clearance of pending GP fund cases and gratuities. Establishment of a Labour Welfare Board and implementation of Central laws in J&K. An increase in medical allowance to ?1,000 per month for pensioners, aligning it with Central Government provisions. Immediate resolution of pay anomalies for clerical staff as per CAT directives. Several NMC members, including Rajan Babu Khajuria and B.S. Jamwal, attended the press conference, supporting these appeals for employee welfare. |
