Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 4: The Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) has called for a one-day protest on December 30, 2024, pressing the government to address long-pending issues related to the regularization of engineers, career progression, filling of vacancies, and recruitment of Junior Engineers (JEs). This decision came after JKEEGA exhausted all democratic means to resolve the issues and a meeting of its Guidance Council. The meeting, attended by senior engineers, including CE's, SE's, XEN's, AEE/AEs, and JEs, highlighted growing concerns about the neglect faced by power engineers under JKPDD. Er. Pirzada Hidayatullah, President of JKEEGA, and Er. Sachin Tickoo, General Secretary of JKEEGA, issued a joint statement underscoring the unresolved HR issues, which have led to distress among the engineers. Key concerns discussed included the lack of regularization despite a Cabinet decision, delayed promotions, and the failure to issue orders for in-charge promotions and posting orders. Additionally, the administrative department of JKPDD has not implemented the 2019 SAC order for the regularization of engineers, further aggravating the situation. The promotion files of Superintending Engineers have also faced repeated delays, impacting those nearing retirement. Despite the significant contributions by engineers in reforming the power sector, there has been no progress on the creation of an enforcement wing or the implementation of the salary disbursement system (paysys). The Guidance Council resolved to serve a 26-day notice to the government, demanding the issuance of regularization orders for power engineers as per the SAC decision (258/22/2019). If the demands are not met, a one-day protest will be organized on December 30, 2024, with support from the All India Power Engineers Federation. |
