Early Times Report AKHNOOR, Dec 5: The Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College (GDC) Akhnoor organized a week-long series of activities to commemorate World AIDS Day and promote awareness about HIV/AIDS. The initiatives focused on prevention, treatment, and combating the stigma surrounding the disease. On December 4, a Poster Making Competition highlighted themes like "Stop the Spread," "Eradicate Stigma," and "Empowering Youth for a Safe Future." Students showcased their creativity while fostering meaningful discussions about HIV/AIDS. On December 5, a community rally was held, starting from the college campus. Students, faculty, and local leaders participated enthusiastically, carrying placards and distributing informational pamphlets to spread awareness throughout Akhnoor. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Romilla Malla Bhat lauded the efforts of the Red Ribbon Club and encouraged continued engagement in such initiatives. "Awareness and education are vital in dispelling myths and reducing stigma. These activities pave the way for a more informed and compassionate society," she said. The program was coordinated by Red Ribbon Club Coordinator Prof. Gopal Singh and received widespread support from students and faculty, reaffirming GDC Akhnoor's commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS. |
