NMC president urges CM for immediate release of pending 3% DA | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 8: Subhash Shastri, President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC), has called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to announce the release of the pending 3% Dearness Allowance (DA) instalment due since July. Addressing NMC workers during a meeting, Shastri emphasized the urgent need for relief for employees and pensioners amidst soaring prices of essential commodities. Shastri pointed out that other states have already released the 3% DA instalment and urged the state government to follow suit without delay. “This step would provide genuine relief to the salaried class and pensioners, especially when the annual budget provisions allow for it,” he said. Referring to the 7th Central Pay Commission recommendations implemented in 2016, Shastri highlighted the provision to merge 50% of DA into basic pay or pension once DA crosses 50%. “With DA now at 53%, we request the government to merge 50% DA into basic pay or pension retrospectively,” he stated. Additional demands raised during the meeting included: • 20% interim relief for Centre and state government employees and pensioners until the 8th Pay Commission is constituted. • Regularisation of daily-rated workers and release of their pending salaries. • Wage enhancement for daily wagers to ₹18,000 per month. • Increase in medical allowance to ₹1,000 per month. • Implementation of CAT’s decision to address clerical cadre pay anomalies. Shastri appealed to the government to address these long-standing issues to alleviate the hardships faced by employees and pensioners. |
