Kathua, Dec 8: Continuing its crackdown on the illicit liquor trade, the J&K Police in Kathua arrested two women and seized 58 pouches of illicit liquor (250ml each), weighing approximately 14 litres, at the Changran Khad area. The arrested women were identified as Neetu Devi, wife of the late Balvinder Kumar, and Pooja Devi, wife of the late Joginder Pal, both residents of Chak Drab Khan, Kathua. The police party, under the leadership of the SHO Kathua and supervision of DySP Headquarters Kathua, was on patrolling duty in the Changran Khad area when the two women were apprehended while allegedly selling illicit liquor to make an illegitimate profit. A case has been registered at Police Station Kathua under FIR No. 389/2024, U/S 48 (a) of the Excise Act, and further investigation is ongoing. |
