INM trainees visit Directorate of Agriculture Jammu for Soil, Fertilizer, Pesticide Testing | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 13: As part of the ongoing 15-day certificate course on Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) for agricultural input dealers, 30 participants from Jammu, Kathua, Kupwara, Anantnag, and Baramulla districts visited the Soil, Fertilizer, and Pesticide Testing Laboratory at the Directorate of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Krishi Bhawan Jammu. The training, organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), SKUAST Jammu, aims to enhance participants' knowledge and skills in soil testing, fertilizer management, and pesticide analysis. The exposure visit provided trainees with hands-on experience and insights into soil testing parameters, soil health cards, and the process for test-based fertilizer and pesticide recommendations. Shri Arvinder Singh Reen, Director of Agriculture Jammu, highlighted the critical role of fertilizer and input dealers in educating farmers about proper fertilizer use and sustainable agricultural practices. Dr. Neeraj Rajwal, Assistant Soil Chemist Jammu, explained the Soil Health Card scheme and demonstrated laboratory techniques for analyzing soil samples. Dr. Dolly John, Assistant Biochemist, showcased the operations of the Fertilizer Laboratory, including quality assessments and nutrient analysis, while Dr. Adil Rashid, Assistant Soil Survey Officer, discussed the Soil Survey Section's functions. Dr. Tarminder Singh, Research Assistant, covered pesticide testing procedures, including residue analysis and quality assessments. The visit concluded with an interactive technical discussion, allowing trainees to engage with laboratory staff and deepen their understanding of these crucial agricultural practices. Dr. Satvir Singh, SMS KVK Jammu, and other KVK Jammu staff accompanied the participants throughout the visit. |
