“Cong candidate Zaffarullah was proxy for GM Saroori” claims MLA Inderwal | Interview | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 13: Pyare Lal Sharma, the newly elected MLA from the Inderwal constituency, has said that he is committed to development and unity, steering clear of any religious polarization in politics. In an exclusive interview with Early Times, Sharma stated, "I respect all religions and don't believe in dividing people in the name of religion. The constituency I have won from has 85% Muslim population, and people, irrespective of their religion, have reposed faith in me. I promise to live up to their expectations." "I will not allow anyone to divide people in the name of religion. My politics is about unity and progress," he reiterated. Sharma, who contested the elections as an independent candidate after the National Conference (NC) left the Inderwal seat for the Congress, rejoined NC after his victory. He clarified, "The party did not stop me from contesting the polls, even though it had ceded this seat to Congress. The Congress candidate, Zaffarullah, was a proxy for G.M. Saroori, who has dominated the region for the past 20-25 years." Highlighting the challenges faced by his constituency, Sharma said, "Many areas in my constituency are without mobile phone and internet connectivity. By March next year, I aim to connect the far-flung villages with modern communication facilities." "Improved road connectivity is my top priority, starting with Bonzwa. I have also taken up the issue of better roads across the region," he said, adding, "I will work to get Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and degree colleges sanctioned for the area." On the political front, Sharma expressed hope for the restoration of Jammu & Kashmir's statehood. "Statehood will allow us to pursue development works more effectively," he remarked. |
