JAMMU, Dec 15: In a spirited display of young talent, Ajanta Sports Club Jammu secured a commanding 42-run victory over Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor in a friendly U-16 cricket match. The game, held amidst great enthusiasm, highlighted the sportsmanship and dedication of the budding cricketers.
The match was inaugurated by notable dignitaries, including Rakesh Malhotra (Managing Director, Shubtilak Hospital and former Councillor), Deepesh Singh (former Municipal Chairman), Atul Sudan, and Sham Singh Langeh (Zonal Head, Divyang Cricket Board of India). Their presence added prestige to the event.
Winning the toss, Singh Cricket Club chose to bowl first. Ajanta Sports Club put up an impressive total of 157 runs. Phelaj stole the show with a spectacular unbeaten knock of 74 runs, ably supported by Kanish, who contributed 16 runs. On the bowling side, Singh Cricket Club's Jatin, Smiley, and Goutam managed to take one wicket each.
Chasing the target, Singh Cricket Club struggled to build momentum and were bowled out for 114 runs. Akash emerged as the top scorer for his team with a resilient 42 runs. Ajanta's Rehan played a crucial role, taking two important wickets to seal the victory for his team.
Phelaj was adjudged Man of the Match for his stellar performance with the bat, which proved decisive in setting a challenging target for the opposition.
The match not only showcased the cricketing talent of the youth but also fostered a spirit of camaraderie and enthusiasm for sports within the community. Organizers extended their gratitude to the dignitaries, players, and spectators for making the event a memorable success.
